ESI Registration:

The Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 (ESI Act) provides for health care and cash benefit payments in the case of sickness, maternity and employment injury. The Act applies to all non-seasonal factories run with power and employing 10 or more persons and to those factories which run without power and employing 20 or more persons. The appropriate Government may after notification in the Official Gazette, extend the provision of the Act to any other establishment or class of establishments, industrial, commercial, agriculture or otherwise.

The formalities for ESI is employer have a strength of 20 employees, As maximum ceiling of ESI contribution is upto 10000/- Gross/Month only. Those getting 10001/- will be exempted from the ESI.

Procedure for Registration of a factory or an establishment

The employer of a factory or an establishment is registering it under the Act has to send the Regional Office within 15 days from the Act becomes applicable to it a Declaration of Registration in the prescribed form . Upon receipt of the Declaration of Registration the Regional Office shall be allotted a Code Number and factory or the establishment shall be registered under the Act. After that only you can register your employees with the ESI. They have to prepare a declaration form 1, written clearly male or female. All the declaration forms should be counter signed by the employer.

Then every employee shall be allotted an temporary identification number.
